Mishima Maze

Reading about sixteenth and seventeenth century Japan I imagined the private quarters of palaces and villas like a maze of shimmering surfaces - tatami mats, shoji screens, ink paintings, gilded and lacquered carvings leading from one room to the next. A beautiful puzzle within which to lose one's way.
