Miko Jar
The Miko Jar is a sculpture depicting the essence of handwork and nature. Drawn to the raw beauty and sculptural tension of traditional Japanese baskets, Alex sought to capture this essence; the interplay of strong bamboo skins, strong woven form, and dynamic negative spaces. After several attempts at casting, this beautiful vase was made, preserving the organic strength and surface details. Named "Miko," meaning "shrine maiden" or "beautiful child," the vase reflects the profound impact of Japan’s artistry on Alexander Lamont’s creative journey.
